STEPANAKERT. – Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, on Tuesday visited Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) citizen Arsen Baghdasaryan, who is held captive in Azerbaijan.

Communication Officer of the ICRC Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, Eteri Musayelyan, told about the aforementioned, and in response to the query by Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“On 23 February, the ICRC representatives in Azerbaijan visited the PoW who crossed the line of contact on 26.12.2014 and provided him with an opportunity to exchange family news,” Musayelyan stated. “The visit was conducted in line with the standard ICRC procedures. According to its mandate, the ICRC visits detainees to monitor their treatment and conditions of detention and help to ensure that they are able to maintain contact with their families.”

NKR citizen Arsen Baghdasaryan was taken into Azerbaijani captivity on December 26, 2014. And within the framework of a hastily concocted case, he was charged with “sabotage,” and sentenced to fifteen years in a maximum security prison.
