STEPANAKEET. - The Karabakh Government has taken responsibility for improving the housing conditions of refugees.
Karabakh PM Arayik Harutyunyan stated the aforementioned at the meeting with the representatives of refugees from Azerbaijan.
The PM informed that upon the instruction of Karabakh President, the Government is going to implement specific program on solving the housing issues of the refugees.
''During the last years of the USSR, hundreds and thousands of Armenians were subjected to pressure and pogroms in Azerbaijan, and we have to pass a certain path for the proper legal assessment and international condemnation of these events.
As a result of pogroms, part of the Armenians fled Azerbaijan and settled in Artsakh, becoming the fully-fledged part of our society. After several years, having solved the housing problems of priority social groups, the Government took the responsibility to improve the housing conditions of refugees, since Karabakh is also their state,'' he said.
According to Harutyunyan, over the past years thousands of families got the status of refugees. Part of them needs improvement of their housing conditions, he added. However, considering the need for additional research, the PM proposed to carry out additional calculation of the refugees and their housing problems.
According to the preliminary information, at the first stage people with disabilities and officers' families, as well as large families will take advantage of the program on improving housing conditions. Besides, the Government is going to compensate the refugees renting houses before providing them with flats.
In Harutyunyan's words, the program on improvement of housing conditions for refugees living in dormitories will continue.
