YEREVAN. – The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party are incompatible in terms of their ideology as well as economic and foreign policy programs, former MP Azat Arshakyan said at a press conference on Saturday.

In his words, these two political forces have very different objectives and interests.

“The only thing that could justify their political cooperation is change in power,” Arshakyan noted. “If there is no change in power, this is not political cooperation and political programs.”

He added that in the case of such an important alliance, the two political parties should have at least held party conventions.

“It was indispensable to organize an open discussion,” Azat Arshakyan stated. “Did everyone agree with the signing of this ‘Swiss reconciliation document’?”

The RPA and the ARF on Wednesday signed a political cooperation agreement, pursuant to which three ministerial and two provincial governor positions were allocated to the ARF.
