YEREVAN. – Political scientist and Modus Vivendi Center Director, Ambassador Ara Papyan, on Saturday spoke at a roundtable discussion devoted to the indigenous people of Azerbaijan.

In his words, many native nations live in Azerbaijan, and the Armenians need to establish dialogue with them.

Papyan noted that there is a need to raise the self-awareness of the people, publish books, and show them that they are oppressed and not allowed to develop in Azerbaijan.

But as per the analyst, there is no clear official statistics on the actual number of indigenous people living in Azerbaijan.

Ara Papyan stressed, however, that there are a growing number of people among these native nations who realize that we are friendship peoples and Azerbaijan is their oppressor.
