YEREVAN. - It’s the 8th time in a row the beauty contest among women with disabilities, “Miss Hayk,” will take place in Armenia.

According to the CEO of “Unison” NGO, Armen Alaverdyan, the contest aims to break the stereotypes about people with disabilities.

“We want to show that a woman with disabilities is first of all the representative of the fair sex, a mother and a beauty. We have many women with disabilities who have recently become mothers. We want to show everyone that people with disabilities are not at all poor and in need,” Alaverdyan said.

Now the stage of receiving contest participation applications is underway. Women and girls with disabilities, who are above 16, can send their photos to [email protected] before March 28. On April 6, members of the specialist jury will name the winner, who will get a crown and other awards.

According to Armen Alaverdyan, beauties from different regions of Armenia, as well as Javaghk, will take part in the contest.

“By the way, our [former] winner Kristine Piruzyan works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has become the “face” of the ministry,” Alaverdyan said.

According to him, the interest towards the contest grows each year.
