YEREVAN. - The cover-up of 1 March 2008 crime will inevitably lead to its recurrence. The joint statement disseminated by the Armenian National Congress (ANC), People’s Party of Armenia, New Armenia Public Salvation Front, Union for National Self-Determination, “Armenia” initiative and Civil Agreement Party reads.
According to the statement, the cover-up of 1 March 2008 crimes has created a good ground for ''expansion of state pressure and terror.''
''We will consistently bring to Armenian justice those who gave orders, organizers and perpetrators of the March 1 crime. For this purpose, we will use all the legal measures of struggle, including massive public events, raising the issue in the parliament, international structurs and judicial instances,'' the statement says.
As a result of the government-opposition resistance, 8 demonstrators and 2 servicemen of the Internal Troops died in downtown Yerevan on 1 March 2008. Nobody has so far been held liable for the murder of these people.
