YEREVAN. - Discovering and bringing to justice the representatives of March 1 is possible only in case of systematic changes.
Independent MP of the Armenian National Assmebly (NA), Edmon Marukyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.
''All similar cases of mass human rights violations which have such a great resonance are one day revealed, and one day those people are held criminally liable, which is possible as a result of systematic changes,'' the MP noted.
According to Marulyan, it is only in case of sytematic changes that issues on transitional justice can be raised.
''And these questions are important since they will help the society find out the truth, discover those in charge and the guilty, as well as punish them and put up with that,'' he said.
The MP also added that the disclosure of the March 1 events is important to prevent such cases in the future.
In his words, the rally held on 1 March 2008 was prevented to ''warn the changes and merely put an end to them at that moment.''
As a result of the government-opposition resistance, 8 demonstrators and 2 servicemen of the Internal Troops died in downtown Yerevan on 1 March 2008. Nobody has so far been held liable for the murder of these people.
