There are Armenians among deputy candidates vying for seats in the Syrian parliament, the Diocese of Beri of Armenian Apostolic Church reports.

The registration of the candidates was completed on March 2. The Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections announced that 8681 candidates have been nominated as of March 1, and there are Armenians among them too. The candidates will vie for 250 seats in the legislative authority of the country.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad called the parliamentary elections on April 13.
