Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoğlu’s visit to Tehran opens a new chapter in the economic cooperation of the two countries.

Minister of Information and Communications Technology of Iran, Mahmoud Vaezi, who is also the co-chair of Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Commission, told the aforementioned in an interview with IRIB TV channel.

“After a 10-month break in economic ties, the Turkish PM’s visit to Tehran opens a new chapter in the cooperation of the two countries,” the Minister said.

Vaezi also noted that the volume of bilateral trade dropped up to $10 bln in 2015 as compared to $15 bln in 2014. In his words, the sides agreed to achieve $30 bln annual bilateral turnover of goods already in two months, TASS reports.

The Minister also noted that the “political controversies of temporary nature shouldn’t influence the friendly and deeply-rooted relations of long standing between Iran and Turkey.”
