YEREVAN. – Men working in the government service in Armenia believe that women are less educated, independent analyst Nvard Manasyan noted at a press conference on Monday. 

She presented the data of a new study on discrimination against women, and which the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) conducted in the country, from 2015 to 2016.

“It’s a very interesting research that it seems for men working in the public sector [in Armenia] that women are less educated and have less [work] experience,” Manasyan stated. “It’s as a result of these very stereotypes that women are paid less and they occupy the lower chains [in decision-making].”

In the analyst’s words, perhaps this is due to the fact that after giving birth, women lose more than one year of work experience.
