There are numerous abandoned and empty buildings in the old part of Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia.

Often, these are not ordinary homes, but rather true monuments of architecture, 19th century houses, churches as well as estates of well-known court officials and local intellectuals.

One can enter through the threshold of some of these buildings and sense the mysterious breath of ancient times.

But most of the doors of these buildings are locked, and their inside is closed for passersby.

The only thing left to do, therefore, is to examine their entrance doors.

Maintaining their former grandeur, these doors have a noble look also in the pictures taken by the Armenian News-NEWS.am photojournalist (PHOTOS).
