The RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs must demand explanations for the statement the Iranian Vice-President for Parliamentary Affairs made at the Azerbaijani-Iranian conference “Republic of Azerbaijan: previous experience and prospects”. He particularly said that has been and will go on supporting Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Naira Zohrabyan, an MP of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) told NEWS.am.

“Teheran’s explanation is of special importance as Armenia has always considered Iran a friendly country, which has always shown a balanced approach to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem,” Zohrabyan said. “Many of the statements made by high-ranking Iranian officials have lately evoked violent responses. They are now refuted now confirmed,” Zohrabyan said. She must have meant a statement by the Iranian Vice President and Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization Chief, who called the events in Ottoman Turkey early in the 20th century genocide. So the Iranian Vice-President’s pro-Azerbaijani statement may be of this series.
