YEREVAN. – On Wednesday at around 11pm, a vehicle—with driver K. K., 30—went off road for yet unknown reasons on the Yerevan-Meghri motorway in Armenia, and fell about 250 meters into a gorge.

As a result, K. K. and passenger V. Gh., 35, died on the spot.

Prior to the fire and rescue workers’ arrival at the scene, passengers A., 32, R., 28, and R., 30, H. were taken to the Ararat town medical center. R. H., however, died en route to hospital.

Subsequently, the other two injured passengers, who are contract soldiers, were transferred to the Ministry of Defense Central Clinical Military Hospital in capital city Yerevan.

Hospital Director Aram Asaturyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that these military servicemen have sustained multiple fractures.

“One of them is in very critical condition, the other—[in] critical [condition],” Asaturyan added.
