Istanbul Armenian Garo Paylan, who is a parliament member from the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) of Turkey, criticized the Turkish state’s rendering of great assistance solely to the Muslims in the country.

Paylan stated in Parliament that the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey is funding and assisting only Muslims, and events connected with Islam, reported Demokrathaber website of the country.

“The Christians (…) [in Turkey] also pay taxes, and the state (…) should serve equally,” Garo Paylan stated. “If [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan is stating that he wants a religious society [in Turkey], why doesn’t he reopen the Greek seminary [in Istanbul]? Why is the Armenian Patriarchate’s seminary likewise closed?”
