YEREVAN. - The Armenian authorities should have worked out the key principles of the Electoral Code with the representatives of the opposition and people.

Chairman of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) faction, Levon Zurabyan, said the aforementioned today during the public discussion of the draft Electoral Code of Armenia.

In Zurabyan’s words, the current authorities are the ones who falsified the referendum before the eyes of the international community, and, according to him, various proofs have been provided in this connection.

“The people are already tired. Quite different process is needed. It was necessary to discuss the consensus decision. And it’s necessary to set up a commission with equal participation of the opposition and civil society representatives, which will restore the people’s trust to the elections”, Zurabyan stressed.

Responding to Zurabyan’s aforementioned proposition, Minister Davit Harutyunyan assured that the authorities are ready to discuss the proposed format if there is no wrong tone in it.
