YEREVAN. – Even after a sharp drop in population, the Armenia community still can vie for seats in the new parliament of Syria, Noravank Analytical Center Director, political scientist Gagik Harutyunyan, noted at a press conference on Saturday.

He stated that even though only several thousand Armenians may still be living in Syria, they are still highly respected, and the Armenian community can still have its members—including women—in the new Syrian parliament.

Three Armenian candidates are vying for seats in the new parliament of Syria.

The Syrian parliamentary election is slated for April 13.
