YEREVAN. - The decent life of the Armenian citizens is more important than state budget goals.

MP of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vardan Ayvazyan, who is also the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, said the aforementioned, introducing the draft amendments to the Law on Value Added Tax (VAT). The latter will exempt natural persons from VAT on cars imported from the EEU republics for personal use (not more than one import in a year).

In connection with this, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) MP Hrant Bagratyan said that the citizens, who have imported cars paying VAT, should get back the amount. “The state must issue them a bond certificate, which it will then pay,” Bagratyan said.

He also noted that when he proposed to repeal VAT in that context last year, the representatives of the Ministry of Finance said they couldn’t do that due to the risk of budget deficit.

“Personally for me, if you ask me, the decent living standards of our citizens are more important. Thus, we can discuss this,” Ayvazyan said.
