YEREVAN. - Armenian NGO representatives today discussed the draft Electoral Code of Armenia with the members of the Venice Commission delegation.
Head of the Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent that the discussion was constructive.
“We presented our position, and we were understood. We will be able to judge about the effectiveness of the meeting only after its conclusion,” Navasardyan stressed.
Representatives of the anti-corruption Transparency International center, Armenian Helsinki Committee human rights organization, Open Society Institute and Civil Society Institute NGO also took part in the meeting.
The civil society representatives expressed to the Venice Commission delegation their concerns about the institute of observation mission, voter lists and issues related to the effectiveness of appeal mechanisms.
To make final conclusions, the Venice Commission representatives must still hold meetings and discussions with the members of the Armenian parliamentary factions. Today they met with the representatives of “Bright Armenia” party.
