Naked cyclists have arranged a race in Australia, New York Post writes. About 160 people swept through the village of Nimbin in the state of New South Wales to draw public attention to the problems of safety of cyclists as road users.

Besides Australia, similar events take place in other countries. Their participants try to show how this type of transport is economic, practical and healthy. Naked people on bicycles can be seen in Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Vancouver and London. For the first time such events were held in Canada and Spain in 2004, Lenta reported.

The idea belongs to the Canadian activist Conrad Schmidt. The first bicycle race was held in protest against the war in Iraq, but political slogans were soon replaced by environmental appeals.

In dress code of participants complete nudity is encouraged, but this requirement is not obligatory. Besides, the general form of self-expression is the body art, as well as handmade suits decorated with bicycles, boomboxes, horns, megaphones, sirens and musical instruments which participants carry with them.
