YEREVAN. - Director and Honored Artist of Armenia Vilen Charchoghlyan died aged 82, the Information and Public Relations Department of Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet reports.  

Having graduated from the Komistas State Conservatory in 1958, Charchoghlyan was employed in the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet as a symphonic orchestra accompanier. Since 1982 he worked as a director in the same theatre.

Under the direction of Vilen Charchoghlyan, the orchestra singers performed in the U.S., Canada, Syria, Lebanon and other countries with great success.

For many years, Charchoghlyan worked in A. Paronyan State Theatre of Musical Comedy. “Through his professionalism, the distinguished director contributed to the development of classical music and transferred his experience to the young generation,” the message reads.
