YEREVAN. – In the current year, Armenia will receive $606 thousand from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), for the fight against corruption in the country.

The respective draft decision was approved at Thursday’s meeting of the Armenian Cabinet.

This program is envisioned for 2016 and 2017, and its total amount is $749.1 thousand.

Within the framework of this program, a working expert group is planned to be set up together with the Anticorruption Council of Armenia, and the 2015-2018 anticorruption strategy is expected to be implemented in the country.

Government Chief of Staff-Minister Davit Harutyunyan stated at the Cabinet session that this program will help prepare truly knowledgeable and qualified specialists.

“Many [people] consider themselves as such, but it’s hard to call them skilled professionals,” Harutyunyan added.
