YEREVAN. – Armenia has leading positions in terms of being a safe country, and in this connection, an increase in the number of tourists is expected this year. 

The General Director of Armenia Travel + M travel agency, Hayk Grigoryan, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Friday.

“Unlike last year, activeness is noticed [in Armenia] this year in the tourism sector,” he said. “Russian and European tourists enter our country starting from April, and this continues until October.”

“In Grigoryan’s words, the Russian tourists’ “activeness” toward Armenia is due to the international restrictions that are imposed on Russian citizens. As a result, they cannot travel to Europe, and therefore they visit Armenia. As per the expert, Armenia is now in a favorable position in this respect.

“Aside from the Russian tourists, the Europeans also come to Armenia,” Hayk Grigoryan added. “The history and culture of Armenia attracts the European tourists.”
