YEREVAN. – Armenian analyst Argishti Kiviryan’s attorneys, Lusine Sahakyan and Yervand Varosyan, have appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

During a march in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan on April 4, 2014, Kiviryan was detained by the police, outside the Prosecutor General’s Office building.

All three court instances of the country had made judgments against the analyst and ruled in favor of the lawsuit filed by the police, and obligated Argishti Kiviryan to pay a fine of 50,000 drams (approx. US$105).

The analyst and his attorneys, however, do not agree with the verdict, and on Wednesday they filed a complaint with the ECtHR.
