Russia has been a constructive participant in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group—which also includes the US and France.
Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated about the aforementioned at a briefing.
“On the one hand, it should be clarified from the Azerbaijani side as to especially which [Minsk Group] co-chair the word is about,” Zakharova said. “On the other hand, we [i.e. Russia] can’t consider that this reprimand is referred to us, since we have manifested ourselves as a constructive participant in the [Nagorno-Karabakh conflict] negotiation process, for years.”
In her words, the authenticity of the objectives is proved because Moscow wants to solve this complex situation equally with the Armenian and Azerbaijani parties to this conflict.
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev recently stated that some actions by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are provoking. He claimed that he co-chairs contribute to the freezing of the Karabakh conflict, abuse their mandate, and interfere with the work of international organizations.
