YEREVAN. – In addition to the annual double-digit growth, the introduction of engineering labs in the schools of Armenia will enable to create 10 to 15 thousand new jobs each year.

Executive director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), Karen Vardanyan, noted the above-said at Friday’s 16th Annual Conference of UITE.

Also, he proposed that the institutions of higher education in Armenia turn into scientific and educational centers and work on the solution of practical problems, so that students can start working in companies immediately after graduating from universities. 

“Today, several IT companies have education centers where they fill the gaps that exist in the educational system,” Vardanyan noted. “It turns out a double expense is carried out; one time the state spends, the other time—the company.”

As reported earlier, within the framework of the conference, UITE and the Armenian government—represented by Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan—signed a memorandum of cooperation along the lines of the preliminary engineering education introduction program in the communities and public education system of the country.

The parties noted that engineering labs give Armenia a major competitive edge in international market.
