Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said he would have resigned had he been the press secretary of the Turkish president, according to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.   

“If I were in that position and what happened had happened, I would have resigned,” Peskov stated on the air of TV Tsentr, a state-run Russia TV station .

Also, he noted that unless Ankara does what “should be done in such situations,” Russia is not ready for contacts with Turkey.

In November 2015, the Turkish air force shot down a Russian Su-24 attack aircraft/interdictor nearby the Turkish-Syrian border. The warplane was taking part in the antiterrorism operations in Syria. This incident led to the ongoing strain in Turkey-Russia relations.
