YEREVAN. - 1,575 job seekers found jobs in Armenia in January-February 2016.

1033 of them were women, while 1321 workers were non-competitive in the labor market. The remaining 439 comprised the youth.

Head of the Information Department at the Armenia State Employment Agency, Tsoghik Bezhanyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am. According to her, the job placement index in Armenia has grown by 12.6 percent as compared to the same period in 2015.   

As of February 29, the employment agencies have 1,757 vacancies, specialists with primary and secondary education being mainly in demand.  Shop assistants, waiters, car maintenance workers, barbers/hairdressers, make-up designers, nail technicians, cooks, bakers, confectioners, pharmacists, pharmaceutists and telephone operators are among the most demanded positions in Yerevan.

“Treasurers, agents, guards, delivery drivers are also demanded. There is also a high demand for tailors and workers without qualification. There is a relatively low demand for specialists with higher education. [But] The demand is high for programmers and computer personnel in the IT sphere, teachers and lecturers in education, and dentists in the area of health. Managers and those in charge of the market development are also demanded in different fields of economy,” she said.

In Bazhanyan’s words, in contrast to Yerevan, the demand for specialists with higher education, including doctors, is very high in the country’s provinces.
