YEREVAN. - Thanks to 3000 people and $1 mln at most it will be possible to draw out two types of voter lists: one for citizens in Armenia and the other for those abroad.

Secretary of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) parliamentary faction, Aram Manukyan, said the aforementioned at the open meeting with the representatives of government, opposition and civil society, during which draft Electoral Code of Armenia was discussed.

In his words, three people can easily correct the voter lists each month, but one of them should be a government representative, since there is an issue of professional preparation.

“Implementing a joint project is a serious way to reach consensus,” Manukyan said.

He also noted that they have thoroughly studied the reform on correcting the voter lists in Georgia fiver years ago. “11,200 people were involved and $2.5 mln was spent. The government, opposition and civil society each had three representatives who went from house to house. Each group visited 320 families. They managed to go round the entire Georgia in a month,” Manukyan said.

According to him, before the correction of the voter lists, the confidence towards the election process constituted 35 percent in Georgia, following which the confidence level grew up to 96 percent. “This is a good method for raising the confidence toward the election process,” Manukyan added.
