Turkey attaches particular importance to peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said, addressing the delegates of the UN General Assembly.  

“We remain committed to pursuing our efforts in search of а comprehensive and sustainable реасе in the region while respecting the principle of territorial integrity. In recent years, we аll witnessed how frozen conflicts could easily turn into active clashes in the region,” he stated.

The Turkish President also touched upon the Cyprus issue, noting that country’s commitment and support to a just and lasting settlement remains unchanged. He also called on the international community to eliminate the isolation of the Turkish part of Cyprus.

Abdullah Gul spoke of Iran, stressing that Ankara will continue its contribution to international efforts aimed at the search for аn urgent and peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.

As to recent attack of the Israeli armed forces on humanitarian aid flotilla, Gul noted that Turkey expects formal apology and compensation for aggrieved families of the victims and injured. “It resulted in grave civilian casualties and was аn unacceptable act in clear violation of the international law,” he added.
