STEPANAKERT. - Any proposal and any initiative on Karabakh conflict cannot be fully implemented without the participation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) in the negotiation process.

Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan stated the aforementioned at a press-conference held in Stepanakert Thursday.  

“I’m grateful to the international community for the efforts exerted. The relative peace, which lasted until April 1, was also ensured due to the OSCE Minsk Group efforts. [Talking to the OSCE representatives,] I expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that in the conditions of the violated format of talks it is impossible to achieve final settlement of the conflict. If we don’t reconsider the approach to the negotiation process, we will always have a compromise decision,” Sahakyan said, responding to the question of an Italian TV channel journalist.  

In his words, Armenia is the security guarantor of Karabakh people, but when Stepanakert comes up with its own demands, this doesn’t mean lack of confidence to Yerevan.

“We are speaking from logical standpoint, considering that there is no conflict whose solution can be carried out without one of the sides. The conflict has originally started between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, and not between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan involved Armenia into the conflict artificially,” Sahakyan stressed.
