YEREVAN. - Armenia has sent a clear political message to Russia on selling weapons to our adversary.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov told the aforementioned to journalists after the RPA Executive body meeting on Friday.

“We are not delighted: it’s painful that our strategic ally is selling weapons to Azerbaijan, perhaps destabilizing the region,” Sharmazanov said, stressing that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement to Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev wasn’t emotional, but served as a clear political message.

Nevertheless, the arrows point in a wrong direction: our target must be Turkey, whose president, prime minister and minister of foreign affairs laud Azerbaijani aggression several times a day, the RPA spokesperson said.

“The only country in the region which openly backs Azerbaijan is Turkey,” Sharmazanov stated.

In his opinion, in the light of the recent developments, the authority of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has suffered in the eyes of Armenia. “But together with all the problems, I think there are more advantages from the EAEU membership. The words on security aren’t merely words. And the fact that some of our CSTO partners didn’t behave as such is apparent. Any country should be included in a certain military and political bloc, and the membership to CSTO is first of all necessary to us,” he added.
