YEREVAN. - The Azerbaijani helicopter downed by the Armenian side carried out fly-off of 54 targets, Head of Aviation Department of Armenian Armed Forces, Major General Avetik Muradyan, stated Saturday, showing the documents seized from the downed Azerbaijani helicopter, 168hours reports.

According to the general, the flight book of one of the pilots included notes made on March 31, “Black box is yellow. It’s written that the pilot should take off from Baku Kala Air Base to military airbase of Kyurdam. It’s [also] written that he spent overall 148 liters of jet fuel. Then he flew to Kyurdamir Air Base, this taking 60 minutes. Total waste of jet fuel comprised 798 liters and thereafter they began to prepare for the next flight. The next day a flight was planned from military airport to Zhdanovsk,” Muradyan said, noting that that flight lasted 35 minutes.

Introducing the map used by the adversary, Muradyan noted that pilot had received instructions to perform an operational sortie two or three days before.  The combat map marks the frontline of potential adversary and 9 targets in the territory of Karabakh. The uttermost destination was the southeastern direction of Fizuli. Acording to Muradyan, the targets should have been destroyed consecutively. The task was to consecutively deepen 3-10 km from the frontline

In his words, the map was prepared on March 31 or April 1, “The operational air force pilots were instructed to be ready to carry out offensive operations against Karabakh in the night of April 2. Military actions were worked out and specific instructions on targets were given,” Muradyan said.

He also noted that the adversary carried out fly-off of 54 targets.  

“We may say for sure, that the pilot was very tense in performing the flight, as a result of which he used only an anti-aircraft gun, despite having in its arsenal anti-tank means and means against land forces.  

The downed helicopter is the modernized version of Russian MI-24, modernized in South African Republic , and partially in the Ukraine, Muradyan said.
