YEREVAN. – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has canceled his planned visit to the three South Caucasus countries (Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan).

Armine Halajyan, head of the Public Information Department at UN Office in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, told about the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Ban Ki-moon was scheduled to visit Armenia on April 25.

In Halajyan’s words, the UN Secretary-General needs to be somewhere else on those days, and due to the urgent matters.

It is unknown at this time as to when Ban Ki-moon will visit the region.

Within the framework of his visit to the Azerbaijan capital city of Baku, the UN Secretary-General was to attend also the Seventh Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, however, on Wednesday issued a statement calling for the cancelation of this forum.

So, the UN Secretary-General will not be attending this forum for the first time in UN history, and it will be conducted without consensus for the first time.
