YEREVAN. – There is no need for Armenia to withdraw from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Minister of Economy Artsvik Minasyan told reporters, after Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

He stated this commenting on the draft statement which opposition MP, Free Democrats Party Chairman Khachatur Kokobelyan, recently submitted, and with respect to the need for Armenia to part ways with the EAEU.

“There is no need to come out of an integration union, the opportunities of which we have not yet made use of,” Minasyan noted. “When we completely use up these opportunities, then this matter can be raised.”

The minister added that the statements regarding Armenia withdrawing from the EAEU artificially create a stir and form wrong expectations, including among businesses.

The EAEU comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
