STEPANAKERT. – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is being informed about the shelling of the peaceful settlements in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh).
Press service of the NKR Ministry of Defense (MOD) has disseminated a respective statement.
“The NKR Ministry of Defense informs that the International Committee of the Red Cross, as an impartial, neutral and independent international organization, was regularly notified and will be notified henceforth as well, about the shelling carried out at Martakert town and other peaceful settlements near the [Karabakh-Azerbaijan] Line of Contact, by the Azerbaijani Army, just as in recent days, as well as tonight,” the statement specifically reads.
As reported earlier, the Azerbaijani armed forces fired more than 550 missiles toward the NKR military positions and peaceful settlements, and with virtually all the artillery weaponry at its disposal, including from mortars, cannons, and Grad missile launchers.
More intensive shelling was recorded in a northeasterly direction of the Line of Contact. Martakert town, Nerkin Horatagh village, and several other civilian areas were shelled.
But as a result of these aggressive actions by the adversary, NKR Defense Army serviceman Hayk Minasyan (born in 1996) was mortally wounded.
