NASA considers it necessary to develop rules that will regulate the space activities of countries, announced Charles Bolden, the head of the USA Aerospace Agency, at the Center for strategic and international studies in DC, reported RIA Novosti.

According to him the space attracts the interest of more countries and becomes more competitive, whereas that fact poses new challenges, including management of traffic in the orbit, management of space debris. Therefore, the world community should agree on a set of rules for a long-term use of the space."

He also stressed that NASA is ready to maintain its leadership in the exploration of space, as well as to cooperate with other countries on the basis of mutual benefits.
