During engineering works on Thursday, servicemen of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) Defense Army have found an antique necropolis in the eastern Artsakh.

Diana Mirijanyan, Deputy Director of State Service for the Protection of Historical Environment of the Department of Tourism of the NKR Ministry of Economy, told Artsakhpress news agency that two ancient necropolises were found, and where two complete findings—a trifoliate jug and cup plus four plate fragments—were discovered during engineering works.

“Now, the findings are at the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Economy  of NKR, and cleaning works are conducted to include them into the collection,” Mirijanyan said adding that studies will soon begin in this area.

NKR Deputy Minister of Economy Sergey Shahverdyan, for his part, said the Armenian soldiers not only defend the Armenian homeland, but preserve the Armenian culture.
