YEREVAN. - The Municipality of Yerevan is going to announce a tender for investments in a waste recycling plant in the city’s landfill.

First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, Kamo Areyan, said in the parliament Wednesday, introducing the financial agreement on the construction of a new landfill in Yerevan, which will be located next to the operating Nubarashen landfill.  

The means have been allocated only for construction, but the Municipality wants to introduce new components: power generation from biogas and construction of a waste recycling plant.

The landfill will be constructed and run by a company chosen by tender. The feasibility studies for the power generation, which the Municipality will prepare, will help the operator to receive additional income and increase attractiveness of the project.

“We plan to announce a tender for the construction of the recycling plant. This is an important priority for us. We have carried out necessary studies and can guarantee that the plant will be safe for the environment,” Areyan added.
