YEREVAN. – Ambassador Armen Melkonian, who is concurrently Armenia’s observer at and authorized representative to the African Union (AU), met with deputy chairperson Erastus Mwencha  of the African Union Commission.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the interlocutors discussed the prospects for Armenia-AU cooperation.

Also, Ambassador Melkonian handed to Mwencha Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s message, with respect to the developments that occurred in early April at the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, and addressed to chairman Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma of the African Union Commission.

In the message, Nalbandian called upon the African Union Commission and its members to join other members of the international community in supporting the proposals by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-Chairs, which are the sole format for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, in order to ease the tense situation and establish peace and stability in the region.
