In 2015, Armenia managed to expand its irrigation areas for 500-600 ha, Chairman of State Committee of Water Economy Aram Harutyunyan said during the discussion of the report on the republic’s state budget performance in 2015. 

5.2 bln AMD (approx. $11 mln) was allocated to the water consumer communities, who render irrigation services.

“The year was dry, but we managed to expand the irrigated areas. No additional water intake was carried out from Sevan,” Harutyunyan said.

789 mln AMD ($1.65 mln) was allocated for major repair of irrigation systems, he added.
