YEREVAN. - Unfortunately, no consensus was reached on the Armenian Electoral Code before its adoption, Head of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary faction, Armen Rustamyan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

“It’s a pity that this consensus didn’t form before the document’s entering into force. I think there were all grounds for this. It’s a pity that my proposal wasn’t approached seriously: I proposed to publish the document so that it becomes clear who hindered the consensus formation and why,” Rustamyan stated.

In his words, the positions of the opposition and the government regarding the Electoral Code were very close to each other, and little was needed for reaching the final consensus. “This method, proposed by me, can be applied also later. These talks shouldn’t be kept secret and the public should know what is happening,” the MP said.
