The Zaza people are already becoming an important political factor in Turkey, on a par with Kurds, renowned Orientalist and professor Garnik Asatryan told Armenian News – NEWS.am Saturday.

In his words, the task of the Zaza is to ensure the unity of their people, that is, they should create such criteria which would unite the people.

''The language doesn't unite them. For instance, Zaza-Alevis call themselves ''kirmanj'', although this is different from ''kurmanj,'' meaning ''Kurd''.  The Zaza people now face the issue of identity. This is the most important issue for them,'' Garnik Asatryan stressed.
