YEREVAN. – The position of Russia should be more specific in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
Russian Armenian political scientist Karine Gevorgyan, who is co-author of the 1995 report on the Karabakh conflict, on Tuesday stated the above-said at a press conference in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.
But at the same time, the analyst expressed a view that full cooperation is possible solely with a strong entity that has a clear and definite position. As per Gevorgyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, does not posses the corresponding entities.
“Relations were not built with him,” she added. “[Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan is not a sufficient entity. I’m not engaged in domestic political analysis of Armenia. The matter is something else; relations have not been built.”
The political scientist explained that although she draws conclusions based on facts, she does not know the content of the talks.
“There are no direct, reliable ties between them,” added Gevorgyan. “No one hides that.”
Reflecting on the prospects for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the political scientist noted that it is dangerous and senseless to look at this conflict out of the context of the Caucasus and the Middle East.
But in Karine Gevorgyan’s words, even the respective existing opportunities were not used on this matter.
