A policeman in Italy has shot dead a migrant, who stabbed him with a knife. Consequently, the migrant was killed, ANDA news agency reports.

The incident took place in the center of a tent camp in San Ferdinando, southern Italy. The policeman and his colleague intervened in a conflict between the tent camp residents,trying to break them up.

As a result, one of the migrant pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the officers, who in his turn took out a gun and shot him dead.

The local Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident, but the policeman's actions are considered as a permissible self-defense, TASS reports.
