Azerbaijan’s only goal of making false and ungrounded accusations in the international organizations is to distract the attention of the international community from the large-scale aggression unleashed against the civilian population of the Nagorno-Karabakh.
Armenian Deputy FM Ashot Hovakimian said the aforementioned in Vienna Monday.
The delegation led by him attended the 20th ministerial jubilee meeting of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
The aim of the aforementioned treaty was to sum up the work carried out since signing the treaty and once again draw the attention of the international community to the necessity of comprehensive nuclear ban tests. At the meeting, the speakers touched on the irreversible humanitarian negative repercussions of the nuclear tests, expressing regret regarding the non-enforcement of the treaty up to now. They urged the countries which have not yet ratified the Treaty to immediately join the international commitment. At the same time, the delegates attached great attention to the comprehensive monitoring system formed thanks to the treaty, which actually contributes to banning the tests.
In his speech, Deputy FM Ashot Hovakimian underscored the importance of the mission carried out by the committee, reconfirming Armenia’s commitment to full and comprehensive treaty implementation. He expressed satisfaction with supporting the activity of the additional seismic station installed in Garni since 2005, which is included in the international monitoring system and transfers data via satellite to the Vienna headquarters, where they are concluded and used for recording, localizing and describing the seismic incidents.
Hovakimian also reconfirmed the willingness of the Armenian government to carry out open and transparent cooperation with all the partner states and international organizations in the framework of the Treaty. He stressed the unacceptability of Azerbaijan’s false and ungrounded accusations in the international organizations regarding the alleged treaty violations by Azerbaijan, whose only aim is to distract the attention of the international community from the large-scale aggression unleashed against the civilian population of the Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the crimes committed against the civilians.
