YEREVAN. – According to the preliminary data for May, Armenia’s exports have increased by 8.4 percent, on an annual basis.

But according to official data, more impressive records were achieved in separate months. As case in point, the February export growth rate reached almost 135 percent, whereas the January-May growth was 20.1 percent.

During this period, a progress was recorded also in Armenia’s external trade. The respective negative balance was reduced by 15 percent, and the import and export ratio dropped from 2.3 times to 1.9 times.

In addition, exports grew by 22.2 percent during the first four months of the current year, and Russia enjoys the lion’s share in the growing exports of Armenia.

Primarily alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and ore and copper concentrates have ensured the achievements in the country’s exports.
