ARTIK. – Water still fills the homes of the Artik residents, who have suffered from the flood.

Sofya Hovsepyan, member of the “Let’s help Artik residents eliminate the aftermath of flooding” initiative, told the above-said to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“There are dead animals under stones,” added Hovsepyan, who on Saturday headed for Armenia’s Artik town with other members of this initiative. “There are houses where snakes have appeared.”

The initiative members are helping Artik residents remove the sands that have amassed around houses, and clean up basements and surrounding areas.

Due to heavy rainfall on June 24, the local Gharanghu River had burst its banks, large boulders had piled up on the drainpipes, and as a result, the Artik streets were filled with water.

Even though the Armenian government has decided to provide compensation to the flood-affected residents, the latter are dissatisfied with the amount of this compensation.
