YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Monday sent condolences to Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of Iraq.

Sargsyan extended his commiseration in connection with the terrorist attack in Baghdad, as a result of which hundreds of innocent civilians were killed and injured.

“Armenia strongly condemns this terrorism, whose objective is to provoke a new wave of instability in both Iraq and in the region.

“We express our solidarity with the friendly Iraq, in the determined efforts aimed at uprooting terrorism once and for all in the country.

“I express heartfelt condolences to you, [and] the friendly people of Iraq, wishing fortitude to the relatives of the victims, and speedy recovery to the injured,” the Armenian President’s message of condolences reads, in particular. 

According to reports, a car bomb in the Iraqi capital city killed 200 people, including 25 children.
