YEREVAN. – The society and the authorities in Armenia do not sense that there is no state authority, but there is public authority.

International law specialist and attorney Ara Ghazaryan noted the abovementioned at a press conference on Tuesday, in connection with Constitution Day in Armenia.

In Ghazaryan’s words, one of the main objectives for amending Armenia’s constitution last December was to see to it that there will not be state authority in the country.

“The state agencies are hired to exercise public authority,” he added. “[But] there is no perception of public authority among the society [in Armenia].”

Ara Ghazaryan added that there is a Constitution-society disconnect in Armenia.
