YEREVAN. – We want to expect medals from the Armenian athletes in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. What does the [National] Olympic Committee [of Armenia] say? Will we have medals?

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan stated the aforementioned at Thursday’s Cabinet session.  

He asked Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gabriel Ghazaryan what results Armenia can expect this year.

Ghazaryan responded that the number of the country’s medals and participants increases every year.

“There will be medals,” he added. “But we will endeavor so that there definitely will be gold medals, too.” 

A total of 28 athletes will represent Armenia in the 2016 Summer Olympics that will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
